NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES TO SERVE IN THE COUNCIL OF DECLARED CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS

In terms of the Cultural Institutions Act, 1998 (Act 119 of 1998), members of the heritage fraternity and the general public are hereby invited to nominate persons to serve as members for the Councils of the following Declared Cultural Institutions:

• KwaZulu-Natal Museum (Pietermaritzburg)
• National Museum (Bloemfontein)
• Freedom Park (Pretoria)

When nominations are submitted, it should be borne in mind that the nominee requires a broad understanding and experience in the field of heritage, broad managerial and financial expertise, legal knowledge, knowledge of marketing and liaison, fundraising, education, cultural/social research, corporate governance as well as a willingness to render community service. The remuneration of the appointed nominees is in line with the remuneration scheme of the National Treasury guidelines.

Members of the public (excluding the Executive and Non-Executive management of the respective entities) wishing to nominate persons to serve as members for the Council of the Institutions concerned should submit the following:

a) A letter containing full names and all contact details of the nominee. The letter must also provide reasons for nomination and explain suitability for appointment;
b) Recently updated curriculum vitae of the nominee, including three (3) contactable references; and
c) A statement/letter signed by the nominee, in which he or she agrees to the nomination.

Separate nomination must be submitted for each of the Institutions.
No nomination will be considered unless all of the above are included. Correspondence will only be entered into with shortlisted candidates. Consider yourself unsuccessful if you have not been contacted 60 (sixty) days after the closing date.
