Volunteerism
Cultural organizations often require strategic intervention towards growing sustainable organizations and sound governance structures.
Through the BASA Mentorship Programme and Boardbank SA, business professionals have the opportunity to apply their skill set and expertise through volunteering as mentors or as non-executive directors for arts organizations.
BASA Mentorship
The BASA Mentorship Programme, in association with Etana, provides business volunteer mentors to over 40 arts organisations around the country. Through the Mentorship Programme, business people engage directly with arts organisations giving them practical advice and strategic insight, helping them to formulate plans and implement ideas to ensure their survival and success. Business mentoring is another way in which business can make a real impact in the arts without spending very limited funds.

Boardbank SA
Boardbank SA is an initiative which offers skilled professionals an opportunity to engage with an arts organisation in a real and effective way, by providing the opportunity to voluntarily sit on the Board of an arts organisation. The value is two-fold - making the arts sector more sustainable by improving corporate governance, while providing business professionals with the opportunity to expand their own Social Investment (SI) responsibility within the arts sector. The aim of Boardbank SA is to see these relationships growing from seed to strength.
To find out when the next Boardbank event takes place, or if you are interested in becoming a Board director of an arts organisation please email info@basa.co.za or Call (011) 447-2182/2743/2295.
