The Nationals programme has been extended to include the annual Sasol National Youth Orchestra Course, and two additional sessions in the year; one for advanced strings, and the other for the wind band and percussion enthusiasts.
You need to
1. Play an orchestral instrument
2. Be at least Grade 6 level (Unisa, ABRSM, Trinity)
3. Be between the ages of 13-25 in 2010
An exciting opportunity is also available for Nationals participants to take part in the Britten-Pears Orchestra at Aldeburgh Music in the UK. Auditions will be recorded at the same time as the Nationals traveling auditions in April. Please see this link for more information: http://bit.ly/aJVRHS
The audition process (which is almost exactly the same as last year):
From 7-30 April 2010 live recorded auditions will be held in all main centres. An administration fee of R10 is to be paid at your audition. Candidates should prepare a solo piece and a study of their choice to demonstrate their standard and fluency on their instrument. Accompanists are not allowed. Your programme should not exceed 5 minutes in length and you may make any required cuts to fit within the time limit. Candidates who are not available for these auditions may submit their own recordings on condition that they follow the recorded audition procedure outlined on our website. Please note: own auditions are not encouraged, and SANYOF does not pay for the recording.
APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON FRIDAY 19 MARCH 2010.
