Rendezvous art projects, an initiative to develop links between business, educational institutions and the arts, came into being in 2007. The first project was RENDEZVOUS focus sculpture, followed the next year by RENDEZVOUS focus wearable art.

This year the third project is being launched. This project consists of a series of exhibitions due to travel to various galleries throughout South Africa – RENDEZVOUS focus original lithography 2009-2010. Whereas the first two projects engaged South African artists, RENDEZVOUS focus original lithography 2009-2010 aims to forge cultural links between South Africa and France by means of a series of exhibitions of lithographical work by artists from the two countries.

The French component of these exhibitions is a collection of lithographical prints from Atelier Pons in Paris (such as Pablo Picasso, Jean Pons, Pierre Alechinsky, Hans Hartung, Yves Klein...) and the South African component consists of a collection of promissing and renowned South African artists working in the medium of lithography ( William Kentridge, Judith Mason, Sam Nhlengetwa, Diane Victor, Tommy Motswai, Norman Catherine...).

The aim of RENDEZVOUS, a non-profit organisation, is to develop the essential link and collaboration between business, education and culture while offering exposure to artists and supporting community projects.

AIR LIQUIDE Pty, NATIXIS Bank, The French Institute of South Africa ( IFAS), Business and Arts South Africa (BASA), SQUID'ART,, The Hyatt Regency, The North West University, The University of the Free State, The KKNK Festival, The University of Stellenbosh od The University of Johannesburg make this challenging events possible and strongly supported.

RENDEZVOUS focus original lithography will offer six South African artists the opportunity to travel to Paris and be part of a workshop on lithography at the Atelier Pons, with master lithographer Elisabeth Pons offering assistance.

The artworks produced during the workshop will be presented on public display in 2010 and 2011.
While offering the public the opportunity to discover quality artworks and artists, RENDEZVOUS also strongly believe in the necessity of collaboration between business, institutions, universities and artists to strengthen one of the most beautiful and hopeful values our societies can share: humanity.
