ABSA has shown its commitment to the arts and its support of local
communities by hosting a hugely successful charity evening at the Absa
Wynsaal.
The glitzy event was attended by several characters from the popular
Afrikaans television series 7de Laan, who strutted their stuff on the
catwalk to huge applause, with proceeds going to charity.
Characters like Zinzi, Felicity, San-Mari, Annelie, Xander, Bernard, Sanjay
and Lukas showed off their modelling skills by wearing garments from the
show. Revellers then had the opportunity to purchase some of the clothes at
a reasonable price. Proceeds went to a local charity organisation.
Absa General Manager for Sponsorships, Lynn Naude, was delighted by the
successful nature of the event.
³Absa is a staunch supporter of the arts. The Absa KKNK is an important
sponsorship for us, just like our other sporting properties like the
Springboks, Bafana Bafana, the Absa Premiership and the Absa Currie Cup.
Part of our strategy is also to give back to all the communities that we
interact with and I am delighted that money raised from the function at the
Absa Wynsaal could benefit local charities and also the community of
Oudsthoorn,² said Naude.
Some spectacular evening gowns, worn by actresses on the show, were also
auctioned off. ³I am really pleased at how the people of Oudshoorn have come
out to support this event², added Suzette Celliers, Provincial Head of
Marketing and Communications in the Eastern and Southern Cape.
³More than R22 thousand rand has been raised from the event and we aim to
sell more clothes from the 7de Laan actors for the duration of the Absa
KKNK², said Celliers.
The Absa KKNK ends on 9 April.
