BASA Mentorship Programme
BASA Mentorship Programme, in association with Etana
Business and Arts South Africa's Mentorship programme, is a mentorship programme designed to introduce better business skills into the arts sector.
The Mentorship Programme had been in development since Business and Arts South Africa’s first Arts Marketing programme ran in 2001, which identified gaps in levels of professional or business expertise within the arts sector – ranging from marketing to financial planning; from audience development to cash flow management.
Such business arts relationships benefits both the arts organisation, which acquires a new perspective on its operations and context and new skills, and the business professional who gains a new perspective into a world characterized by hard work, lack of funds, but no lack of creativity and energy.
Since BASA Mentorship launched, some fascinating partnerships have formed around the country with an enthusiastic response to the concept of a business person mentoring an arts organisation.
Some current examples of partnership include: Work with an organization involved in theatre, dance, drama, music, the fine arts, literature, craft … and remember the arts educate, bridge divides, build skills, create jobs, link to tourism, inform our national identity. You can make a difference.
