We provide a bespoke service for members, providing resources, support and information in their endeavor to leverage their company within the arts sector.

BASA offers a service to members that is multifold. Among these are:

  • Helping businesses identify appropriate sponsorship opportunities in the arts;

  • Lobbying for a better tax dispensation for companies that support the arts;

  • Providing opportunities for companies to participate in social responsibility programmes in the arts sector;

  • Conducting research into local and international trends in sponsorship;

  • Access to information, research and impartial advisory service;

  • Facilitating networking among business sponsors of the arts;

  • Distributing relevant information on the arts and business;

  • Hosting seminars to educate new and existing arts sponsors of development within the arena;

  • In association with Business Day and Anglo American, funding a prestigious annual awards event to recognize the contribution; of sponsors to the arts. Entry forms can be downloaded here and are available from October each year;

  • Providing access to events especially organised for BASA members;

  • Publicity and marketing opportunities through carefully selected media partners including Summit TV; SAfm (the ‘Create’ slot), Radio 1485 and Classic fm;

  • Facilitating the Boardbank in association with Empowerdex, allowing black professionals to easily access and play a role in arts organisations that require board members.

  • Research, over and above that offered by BASA can be commissioned. Quotes available on request.

Major companies operating in South Africa and internationally together with smaller local enterprises have formed the cornerstone of BASA’s growth over the past 11 years. This includes the major mining and industrial houses, financial institutions, legal firms, communications and service providers and retailers, and smaller private companies. Today BASA boasts some 160 member companies.

Annual Membership


Please note: Membership fees are charged on a slide scale with large companies paying the maximum.

Companies with 1 - 49 employees: R 1,501.00 excluding VAT

Companies with 50 – 199 employees: R 4,235.00 excluding VAT

Companies with 200 - 1000 employees: R 7,865.00 excluding VAT

Companies with more than 1 000 employees: R 16,335.00 excluding VAT

BASA also offers the opportunity to individuals within business to become members of the organisation through our Friends of BASA structure. The fee for an individual is R 1,501.00.
