Artists and Arts projects

BASA works across all arts disciplines-visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, film, craft, music, song and dance in many different ways:

  • We assist arts projects in their approach to business by helping them to understand the sponsorship environment and the needs of the private sector;

  • We help develop their business skills through a voluntary scheme in which business people may mentor individuals within an arts organisation;

  • We lobby the media to increase coverage of South African arts;

  • We conduct research in to the attitudes of the general public, the corporate sector and the media to inform practice within the arts;

  • We support conferences and events that directly benefit the arts including the Arts and Culture Marketing Conference, Corporate Governance, Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition, Artstrack research and Boardbank SA. (For more information please click here. )

  • Barloworld ARTWORKS, is a business-arts mentoring programme run in partnership with BASA member Barloworld, and is an important offering to our arts organisations;

  • We provide arts organisations with vital information in easy to understand documents which may otherwise not be easily accesabible.
