The following document describes in detail the Privacy Policy for the Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Website. If you have objections to this Privacy Policy, you should not access or use the site. By accessing and using the Site, you are agreeing to the policies outlined below. Note that this policy may be updated from time to time; please check back periodically for changes.

BASA is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes the ways in which we collect information from you when you use the Site and the Service and what we may use it for. It should be read in conjunction with the foregoing legal disclaimer and the statements about liability and copyright.

Collection of Anonymous Information
BASA collects Anonymous Information about site usage help analyse web traffic statistics. This information is used to refine and improve the website and guide marketing efforts.

What data does BASA collect from users of the Site?
BASA collects data from you ("User Data") at points in the Site when you register an interest in receiving information, enter competitions, use the Service or partake in any of BASA’s initiatives.

What use does BASA make of User Data
BASA will use User Data that it collects from you only in accordance with the following guidelines:

i. To provide the Site and the Service for you
BASA will use User Data to provide the Site and the Service, to notify you of any changes in them or in the Terms & Conditions of use of the Site and/or any Service.

From time to time, BASA, its partner organisations or third parties acting on its behalf, may wish to send you information about other services and products which it offers, and in which it believe that you may be interested, and it may use User Data for this purpose. iii. Internally within BASA
BASA may make User Data available to other parts of its organisation, either for the delivery of its products and services or to enable them to provide you with information about products or services which BASA believes will be of interest to you. BASA may also use User Data to conduct research relating to areas of interest in the creative industries as well as studies on statistics.

While it is unlikely, BASA may be required to disclose your User Data by a court order or to comply with other legal requirements. BASA will use all reasonable endeavours to notify you before we do so, unless we are legally restricted from doing so.

No commercial disposal to third parties
BASA will not sell, rent, distribute or otherwise make User Data commercially available to any third party, except as described above or with your prior permission.

Security
BASA uses industry standard security technology to protect the security, integrity, and privacy of Personal Identifying Information from unauthorized third-party access.

Cookies
In order to enhance and support the user experience at the site, we set and access cookies on your computer. (A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive.)

Cookies are used for two purposes: statistic tracking (helps the statistic analysis system track repeat site visits) and cart sessions (links the user to their cart and session data). The statistic tracking is kept indefinitely, but the cart session expires upon browser close. Neither cookie uses Personally Identifiable Information. Each cookie tracks the user uniquely as an individual, but does not track any personally identifiable information. Both cookies are simply a random number that is linked to something else in the database.

How to opt out of informational correspondence from BASA
From time to time, BASA may send information to subscribers regarding events, projects, programmes and updates, additional services, and other information that may be useful to you. We don’t like getting unsolicited email any more than you do and promise to keep any such correspondence to a minimum. If you prefer, you may opt out of receiving communications from BASA by sending an e-mail with your contact information to info@basa.co.za. with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line.
